Assis. Prof. Alexander Tsouknidas
CEO and President of the Board
serves as a faculty member of the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Industrial Design (TEIWM) and External Reviewer of the World Health Organization (WHO) concerning Guidelines for protecting workers from exposure to manufactured nanomaterials. He received his M.Sc and Ph.D from the Department of Mechanical Engineering of AUTH and has served 6 Universities as an Adjunct Prof. and 3 R&D Centers as a project manager. Having been granted multiple awards and scholarships for his research, he is ceaselessly involved in high added value projects and global networking activities. Alexander has served the Editorial Board of various scientific journals and has published more than 45 journal papers. His strong ties to industry have led to his appointment to the Board of Directors of several private, public and scientific companies.
Prof. Nikolaos Michailidis
is a Professor of the Physical Metallurgy Laboratory of the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. As a young and highly active scientist (>120 journal papers and >2000 citations), he also brings a scientific rigor to the Board of Directors, which is bound to act as a driving force for the spin-off’s technological advancements. He received several Fellowships and Awards (e.g. AUTH’s Excellency & Innovation Award 2008, the SEW Eurodrive Foundation Fellowship as Visiting Professor at Fraunhofer IPT 2008-2009 etc.). He served the Editorial Board of several peer reviewed journals and is a member of the International Academy for Production Engineering (CIRP).
Dr. Dimitrios Papadopoulos
was admitted to the Department of Mechanical Engineering of NTUA (1997) on a scholarship from the MND after graduating magna cum laude from the Hellenic Army Academy in 1991. Upon receiving an MSc in Advanced Materials (2004) he progressed his devotion for research to a Ph.D in Material Science (2008) from the same Mechanical Engineering Department of the AUTH. Dimitris lectured “Smart Materials & Nanotechnology” as an Adjunct Assistant Professor, while establishing himself as a respected researcher in the field of nanotechnology, publishing multiple articles in top-tier scientific journals. His extensive lab-work experience is reflected in 3 patents (National and European) and more than 20 journal papers.
Dr. Theodora Karamanidou
is a goal-oriented chemical engineer. She received her diploma in Chemical Engineering from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in 2010 and she obtained her doctoral degree in the field of nanotechnology and drug delivery in 2015. During her Ph.D, she was occupied in the framework of a large-scale collaborative FP7 project, which allowed her to develop her excellent research and analytical skills. Her primary research interests involve the development of functionalized nanostructured materials with applications in various industrial sectors (e.g., pharma).
MSc Afroditi Vlachou
MSc Afroditi Vlachou is a Chemist, with a specialization in Industrial Chemistry & processes technology of advanced materials. She specializes in the incorporation of nanoparticles into polymeric matrices for the synthesis of innovative nanocomposite materials focusing in the characterization of their thermal properties. As a Ph.D. candidate at AUTH, she works with numerous characterization techniques for both mechanical and thermal properties of polymeric materials and the organic synthesis/incorporation via in situ bulk polymerization of nanoparticles in polymeric matrices.
